Tondo, Manila, 18 August 2016 – The youth of Saint John Bosco Parish, Tondo celebrated the Solemnity of the Assumption of Mary and the commemoration of Don Bosco’s 201st Birthday through a series of fun and formative activities.
Last August 15, members of the different the youth associations of the parish participated actively in the praying of the rosary and the solemn celebration of the Holy Mass in honor of the Assumption of Mary with the theme, “Kabataang Sabay-Sabay Nag-rorosaryo, Kaugaliang Natutunan Kay San Juan Bosco”. Afterwards, a slogan making contest, a poster making contest, and quiz bee followed.
The following day, August 16, Fr. Gaudencio Carandang Jr., SDB presided the Holy Mass in honor of Saint John Bosco. At the end of the mass, the Drum & Lyre Club played “San Juan Bosco Guro at Ama” leading their fellow youth in a short parade to the gymnasium where they held a quiz bee on the life of Don Bosco with the theme “Don Bosco @ 200-JUAN: Binibigyang KARANGALAN ng mga BOSCONIANS sa pamamagitan ng KAALAMAN at KABANALAN!” There were 29 contestants coming from the eleven youth associations of the parish. Main Friends Club was proclaimed the Don Bosco Quiz Bee 2016 grand winner. The Parish Youth Ministry Council, with the guidance of Fr. Reynold Ranjo, SDB made these fun and formative celebrations possible.
