Canlubang, Calamba City, 15 August 2016— The aspirants and prenovices of Don Bosco Prenovitiate House produced a play titled “Lobo, Eroplanong Papel at Saranggola: The Musicale” (Ballon, Paper Plane and Kite) in preparation for and in honor of the Solemnity of Our Lady’s Assumption held in Tanghalang Seminaryo.
The groundwork started on the evenings of June with a theatrical workshop given by the director himself Br. Paul Aldrin Dungca, SDB one of the brother assistants in the prenovitiate house. More than a month of sleepless nights and sacrifices has been offered in order to organize such a very stunning production.
The story lines reel off three objects at all move towards the sky. They symbolize the Assumption with a tale behind each of them. The floor opens with an announcement about the successor to Mr. Langit, the Senior CEO of the Arise Corporation enacted by Prenov. Gino Mendoza. The present CEO has four sons and one of them could be the next CEO. All of them have their own assigned floor in the building. All of them desire to be promoted as the new CEO of the company except for Roman portrayed by Asp. Benjo Mangila, the third among the siblings. Roman has a speech impediment but it does not prevent him from doing his part on the board of directors. He has no story on his own instead he knows all the stories of the staff of the company including the janitor, the maintenance man and Cleo Santos the son of Mr. Lando Santos who met an accident in the Quarry mission in Albay,. He is familiar with the struggles and conflicts of each of the staff. In the end, Mr. Langit makes Roman the new CEO of the company because of his Humility. A simple quality that the father has been looking for in his sons.
The Blessed Virgin Mary was assumed into heaven both body and soul because of her humble disposition. Indeed, the message of this production for us is to be humble so that like Mary we may be one day be exalted into heaven.
To date, the musicale has been staged for four times.
