Tarlac City, the Philippines, 7 June 2020—Fr. Eduardo ‘Duds’ Hila, SDB was installed Rector of St. Dominic Savio Parish in the Salesian Community Chapel of Don Bosco Tarlac during the 8:00 am Eucharistic Celebration on the Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity.
Fr. Duds was the Assistant Principal for Academic Affairs (APPA) of Don Bosco Technical Institute–Tarlac from S.Y. 2018-2020. He was ordained a priest on December 7, 1996. He was assigned in DB Mabalacat in his first three years of priesthood. Afterward, he was sent to Mary Help of Christians Parish–Mayapa, Saint John Bosco Parish–Sta. Rosa, DBTI Makati, and Don Bosco Tondo. He stayed the longest (9 years) in his native place, Tondo, Manila, where he served as a catechist and then Parish Priest.
This is his first time to be assigned as Rector. For Fr Duds, the Rector “is above all a father to the community where (he) is assigned. May malasakit sa kanyang mga confreres at mapagkumbabang naglilingkod sa kanila. (He takes care of his confreres and serves them with humility.)”
The current pandemic has prevented him to be with his new community in Mandaluyong. Fr Gerry Martin SDB, FIN Provincial Superior, delegated Fr Jerry Santos, SDB, Rector of DB Tarlac, to witness and receive the profession of faith of Fr Duds. The Holy Mass was streamed live and made available to the faithful of Savio Parish.
