On-the-Job Training Program of the Veritas College of Irosin in partnership with Don Bosco Agro-Mechanical Technology Center.
The students of the Veritas College of Irosin located at Barangay San Julian, Irosin, Sorsogon are having their On-the-Job Training at Don Bosco Agro-Mechanical Technology Center in Banquerohan, Legazpi City for 640 hours.
A fruit of a partnership that started in 2016 and is continued every year. The partnership started with the idea of Don Bosco-Legazpi to share the agricultural technologies and practices to its fellow agricultural schools and colleges in the Bicol region.
Being one the leading TVET institutions of Don Bosco in the province of Albay, Don Bosco-Legazpi has been know to produce trained farm technicians in the fields of agricultural crops, livestock and poultry.
A proof that attracted the Veritas College of Irosin to partner with the center to expose its students to the center’s fields where practical and technical learnings are nourished.
The training experiences of the Veritas students are very diverse from productions of cereals (corn), vegetable crops, high-valued crops, root crops, fruit trees, wood trees, free-range chickens, broilers, layer chickens, swine and the small and large ruminants.
The students will also learn how to make Fermented Fruit Juices (FFJ), Fermented Plant Juices (FPJ), and Organic Pesticides.
The students are learning the job at hand and exploring more of the agricultural practices Don Bosco-Legazpi has been doing over the years. This experience led every batch of students from the Veritas College of Irosin to recommend the center as one of the best partner organizations for On-the-Job Training.Together with the Veritas College of Irosin, the students have chosen Don Bosco-Legazpi as their training ground for OJT primarily for its broad operations in agriculture and animal husbandry. In its very objective, the on-the-job training of the students have become a commitment of Don Bosco-Legazpi to the Veritas College of Irosin. And together, both are creating impact through endeavoring into agriculture as a form of living and profitable business.
