May 24, 2024, Solemnity of Mary Help of Christians- His Excellency Most Reverend Bishop Broderick S. Pabillo, DD, ordained two (2) Salesians to the order of presbyterate at National Shrine of Mary Help of Christians, Parañaque City. They are Rev. Fr. John Joseph Aguila, SDB, and Rev. Fr. Enrico Mercado, SDB, both from the Philippines–North Province (FIN).

The theme of the Presbyteral Ordination was a Bible passage from the Gospel of Luke: “My Soul Magnifies the Lord!” (Lk. 1:46).

His Excellency Most Reverend Bishop Broderick S. Pabillo, DD, Apostolic Vicar of Taytay, Palawan, presided over the Ordination Ceremony. Fr. Gerardo Martin, SDB, Provincial Superior of Philippine North Province, and other Salesian Priests concelebrated in it.

During his insightful homily, Bp. Pabillo shared three key points with the newly ordained priests: the importance of gratitude, the inevitable struggles they will face, and the constant aid they can seek from Mary. He emphasized the role of Mary in our lives, drawing parallels from the Gospel narrative about the wedding feast of Cana.

Before the end of Mass, Fr. Rico delivered a gratitude speech. He thanked God, Mary, and Don Bosco. He also expressed his gratitude to those people who have played a very significant role in their formation. Their parents received a statue of the Sacred Heart of Jesus as a token of appreciation by the Congregation.

The Mass concluded with a poignant moment as the newly ordained priests offered flowers, symbolizing their commitment to their priestly duties. This was followed by the blessing of Mary Help of Christians and a special blessing bestowed by the new priests upon the congregation, a gesture that was deeply appreciated by all who attended.
